Sound advice: Your writing
I really enjoy reading all those submissions that come into Writings, even those that don’t quite fit our style. This month we have a riveting serial with part 2 in February. I was almost late for work because I couldn’t stop reading it! There are lots of contributions from our favourite writers and some fabulous work from new (to us) writers.
The current theme is “Journeys” and there is still time (just) for you to send in any stories or poems on this theme. If they’re here by 14 January and they’re good, we’ll try to include them for the February issue.
We want the writings section to be a place where our readers can go to read new material so please send work that hasn’t been published elsewhere before. Choose up to three pieces to submit for each bi- monthly publication and send them in.
We have women and girls of all ages reading, so stories and poems that promote suicide, self-harm and drug dealing are unlikely to be accepted. It’s quite a good idea to read what we have published to see what we normally publish. We are a showcase of women’s writings so we want pieces which have been crafted and checked, that will appeal to a wide range of women from all different countries.
Our next themes are set out below. Submitting early is helpful and you can submit now for any of these themes. The submission guidelines are here.
• Mar/Apr 2009: Wilderness
• May/June 2009: On Display
• July/August 2009: One for the Road
• Sept/Oct 2009: Lost & Found
• Nov/Dec 2009: Harmony
We hope as readers of All Things Girl that you enjoy reading the wonderful and talented work that is produced by our writers. If you want to submit to ATG click here.
I’ll look forward to reading everything you send in during 2009.
