Product Review: Wreaths Direct

Wreaths Direct There is nothing so special as the scent of fresh pine on a crisp autumn or winter day, but I grew up accustomed to (and quite fond of) plastic Christmas trees, because my mother is allergic to pine, and because plastic is less attractive to our four-footed family members.

Enter the annual wreath. Because it hangs from the door, greeting visitors with it’s cheery red bow, no one in the family is adversely affected by allergic reactions, but I still get to enjoy it every time I go out to check mail, water the flowers in the front yard, or greet a guest. Better yet, neither my husband nor I are allergic, so at the end of the holiday season, we can add that year’s wreath to our fireplace. Let me tell you, pine smells a LOT better than Dura-Flame.

This year’s wreath comes to me via Wreaths Direct, which is the distributor for products from Grandma D’s Tree and Wreath Farm. It arrived the day before Thanksgiving in a square cardboard box, and while the round shape flattened a little in shipping, a couple of pats and a spritz with water soon had it set to rights, and hanging on the front door.

The box was well-chosen - big enough to keep the wreath intact, but not loaded down with extraneous packing materials that can’t be recycled - and it arrived at my door exactly when I was told it would. The pine needles were fresh - one spring fell out during the hanging process but that was because we got it snagged on something - and the bow was crisp and clean, even after shipping.

Wreaths Direct specializes in shipping wreaths, and has other styles than the traditional red-bow-on-24″-wreath that I bought. Even better, they’re offering free shipping (UPS Ground) within the United States, if you enter the W0834 when placing your own order.

I’m really pleased with my wreath this year. In fact, I keep opening the door just so that lovely evergreen essence can waft through my home.
