With New Moon out this week we revisit our interview with covergirl, Stephenie Meyer
I’m 30 and hooked on Twilight. I admit it. My husband is remarkably understanding of this and will accompany me next week to see New Moon. I’d rather not brave the first week and I want to actually hear what the characters are saying instead of girlish screams every time Edward or Jacob make an appearance on screen.
It goes without saying though that I am excited for New Moon’s release. Tonight is the premiere in LA, and later this week is the full release in the US, UK and a few other countries (some countries have to wait a little longer I’m afraid).
I think about the worldwide mania The Twilight Saga has brought about and what a whirlwind this entire adventure must be for Stephenie Meyer. I realise how exceptionally lucky we were to have Stephenie as our covergirl for our May-June 2008 issue (Sacrifice) before the frenzy of Twilight really set in and she took a break from all media this year (except for her recent Oprah interview of course).
We spoke to Stephenie about Twilight, of course, but also about her first adult novel, The Host (which is slated to be hitting the big screens in 2011!). You can read our interview with Stephenie in two parts, Part 1 and Part 2. We also have an excerpt from The Host, which we definitely recommend. If you are someone who is not into Twilight (apparently some of you do exist, but I wouldn’t know), then know The Host is a vastly different novel to The Twilight Saga and worth a read.
Also, in the spirit of all things New Moon, don’t forget our quickie interview with Chaske Spencer who plays the role of Alpha werewolf, Sam Uley. We caught him quickly between wrapping up filming of Eclipse and the hectic promo tour he is now on for New Moon. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the werewolves in action as I love werewolf lore, and I won’t lie, the multiple 6-packs on display are a draw as well.
Of course, we also have our New Moon giveaway of the Official Illustrated Movie Companion. Comments are open until November 30th to enter to win.
