Prose-a-holic

prose-a-holic

I regularly write reviews for All Things Girl, but if I were perfectly honest, I’d have to confess I write reviews for around 1/4th of the books I read. I am a bit of a prose-a-holic.

From the time I began reading about the adventures of Dick, Jane, and their dog Spot, I was hooked on the way words became sentences and paragraphs wove a tale that fueled my imagination… My tastes range from mysteries to romance….serious to fluff…. I add books to my bookshelves and briefcase from publishing houses, big bookstores, and airport newsstands. Sometimes, I am an impulse shopper, picking up something when I’m feeling bored - and at other times, I watch a favorite author and am at my favorite book store the day a novel is released.

Currently, I’m reading Pandora’s Box by Iris Johansen. I purchased it at an airport bookstore today and started it after boarding a flight. By the time I finished the prologue, I was hooked. It’s sitting beside me, mocking me, encouraging me to pick it up and find out more about Megan Blair and Neal Grady. But I’m a fast reader, and want to make sure I have something to read on the flight back home.

Other reads in the past few weeks:

  • Almost Moon by Alice Sebold. Would I recommend it? Yes. Re-read? No.
  • Four Man Plan by Cindy Lu. Would I recommend it? Yes. Re-read? No.
  • Play Dirty by Sandra Brown. Would I recommend it? Yes. Re-read? Yes.
  • The Quickie by James Patterson (and Michael Ledwidge) Would I recommend it? Yes. Re-read? No.
  • You’ve Been Warned by James Patterson (and Howard Roughan) Would I recommend it? Yes. Re-read? Maybe.
  • Eat, Love, Pray by Elizabeth Gilbert Would I recommend it? Yes. Re-read? Oh, yes.
  • Secrets of the Monarch by Allison Dubois. Would I recommend it? Yes. Re-read? Yes.

I’d love to hear what other folks are reading…Let me know!

    Hi Deb,

I just finished a thriller by an author that I’d put in the same category as James Patterson — Paul Mark Tag. His new book is “Prophecy” and I loved it!! It has action, plot twists, interesting scientific concepts (genetics) and interesting locales. On the author’s website, he even has a link to Google Earth, so you can see photographs that correspond to the chapters’ locations — what a creative idea.

Check it out — hope you like it as much as I did.

    Cheers,
    Linda
