Product Review: Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy
I consider myself a connoisseur of makeup. I am especially well-versed in concealers, foundations and powders, thanks to the gift of terrible skin bestowed upon me very early in life. I have put in my time and have been a makeup aficionado for quite awhile now. I have tried just about all of the different lines of makeup; the good, the bad and the just plain ugly.
I am also a huge fan of TLC’s What Not to Wear. My favorite part of the show is the hair and makeup transformation. Carmindy, the makeup artist on the show, would spray some sort of liquid makeup on a little sponge and apply it to the lucky woman’s face and finish it off with a setting powder, before starting on her cheeks and eyes. I found the spray makeup very intriguing and spent several seasons searching for this product online and in stores. I had never seen that type of foundation before and was eager to try it out. This could finally be the foundation that makes my skin look perfect!
Over the years, I have searched long and hard for the perfect foundation. A foundation that is lightweight yet provides excellent coverage. It would last all day, but not appear thick or caked-on. And for us ladies with a little shine to our skin, the perfect foundation would stay put and not slide off before noon.
Much to my delight, I found that Carmindy herself has inspired a line of makeup, including foundations and powders that deliver everything I have ever hoped for in face makeup. Carmindy’s line, made by Sally Hansen, includes products for eyes, lips and cheeks, is paraben-free and made with natural ingredients. The shining star in this line is the Airbrush Spray Makeup. It’s light in texture and goes on smooth. A thin layer, applied with a small makeup sponge, provides the perfect amount of coverage; I didn’t have to use too much to achieve the desired level of coverage. Priced at under $14.00, this is an economically desirable alternative to other higher-priced foundations that just don’t deliver. This is a superior product for a great price.
The Luminous Matte Pressed Powder, offered at $11.99, complements the Airbrush Spray Makeup perfectly, adding a matte finish that lasts all day. And I have some really long days! Applied either with a large fluffy brush or the sponge that comes with it, it blends well and doesn’t settle into the fine lines. This powder also helps your blush adhere to your cheeks better and longer than others I have tried. My touch-ups are few and far between.
While it’s doubtful my skin looks perfect, it certainly looks a lot better for a lot longer using these Sally Hansen products. I would recommend them to anyone with oily or partially oily skin prone to breakouts or to anyone seeking camouflage for minor imperfections, scarring, or discoloration. They are easy to find at your local CVS, Rite Aid and Ulta stores. Several retail websites sell the products online as well.
