Gratitude: It’s Not Just for Thanksgiving…
If you read about my creation of a Vision Board, you will see that I am working on what to “do” with my life…and part of working on a more fulfilled life is setting the Intent of what you want your life to become. As a part of the intent, I began keeping a Gratitude Journal on November 5th.
I truly believe in the concept of the Laws of Attraction…and part of the principals of the Laws of Attraction is that when you are grateful for your blessings, more blessings will flow your way. The point behind keeping a Gratitude Journal is to be conscious about being grateful.
Because I travel frequently, I wanted to use a physical journal that would fit in my purse or the pocket of my carry-on suitcase. Each night when I climb into bed and am settling in for the night, I write down five things I am grateful for.
I know it sounds incredibly simple…that the writing down of five things I am thankful for each night would assist me in reaching my goal of leading a more conscious, more fulfilled life. Sometimes, though, we make things in life way too complicated. Simplicity is truly the key.
At first, you would think that it’s easy to think of five things you are thankful for…but some days are certainly a struggle. When I climb into bed and pull out that blue little notebook and start to write, I get stuck at number three and have to rack my brain. Those are the nights I turn to even more simplicity (why else do I have things like “Honey Nut Cheerios” and “Fresh Limes” written there?). The people in my life liberally populate the pages of my Gratitude Journal…and that, is one of the core truths of life: our worlds are made richer by those we surround ourselves with.
I find though, as I go through my days, something will happen to me and I’ll think “I have to write that one down tonight!” Less often am I reaching for items to be grateful for each night, so I feel it’s working just the way it’s intended: I am attracting more gratitude to me….
If you find you are only grateful on Thanksgiving, maybe it’s time you keep a Gratitude Journal. This simple exercise reminds us we have every day occurrences in our lives that we are grateful for….if we only focus on it.
I hope the holiday season brings you and yours blessings.

Such a great idea! I definitely need to remind myself of all the things I should be grateful for rather than harping on the things I think I need/want.
