Five favourite films
If you had to choose your top five films what would they be? By only choosing five it’s quite difficult because you have to exclude so many. I have cheated a little, but here are mine.
I enjoyed Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge, for the bling and dazzle, as well as the music. There was a beautiful love song called, “Your Song”.
Keira Knightly as Lizzie Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr Darcy in Jane Austin’s, “Pride and Prejudice” would come in my top five. We all know this is just a “sloppy romance” but hasn’t it stood the test of time? I love Lizzie’s loyalty to her sister as well as the broodiness of Mr Darcy. One thing that always puzzles me is why broodiness is so attractive in films, when it’s such a pain to live with in real life. (No criticsm of my dear husband intended.)
Any of the Harry Potter films (yes I know they’re for children) because they transport you to a world full of different rules, but isn’t that world so strangely familiar? Who wouldn’t like to have Hermione’s brains (and she’s such a loyal friend)? Harry, Ron and Ron’s family are all on the side of goodness and justice, which is ideal for role models for the younger generation, while Harry’s aunt, uncle and cousin are deliciously horrid. Interest for the older person might come in the form of Alan Rickman’s character of Snape. He’s such a brilliant actor.
The Mask, with Jim Carey, quite fascinated me. He was quite mesmerizing when he transformed and his other character kept getting more interesting. I’ve watched this film several times and always seen something new.
My final choice would be Olivia Newton John and John Travolta in Grease. I loved Sandy’s transformation from Miss Goody Two Shoes to something more interesting. Over the years I’ve seen several productions of this musical at the theatre and the music is still good. It makes you feel young again (for a couple of hours) and that can’t be bad.
Choosing just five films is a real challenge, because there are so many good films out there and I haven’t been to the pictures for months!

[…] I’m going to sound like a bit of a copycat here considering Penny and I seem to share tastes in favourite movies. What a tough choice. Only 5 favourite movies? […]
