Embracing Aries
Spring welcomes Aries and the renewing of the astrological cycle. The first sign of the Zodiac, Aries is a passionate defender of the self and fueled by the element of fire. It’s basically all about getting sh*t done. After surviving two personally tumultuous months, I’m ready for some kick-ass Aries energy. In February the erratic sign of Aquarius shook up my world when I discovered I was pregnant (happily discovered, I should add). Pisces followed, bringing me introspection through understanding what it means to become a mom, followed by what it means to experience loss when I learned I had miscarried. I feel like I’ve been in a fog all winter, and as the bright purple and yellow crocus begin to peek through the leaf-ridden flower beds, that fog is lifting. This season’s change for me is about finding out, once again, who I am. So I can’t claim the Mom title just yet, but what I am, is a strong and happy self-confident 36 year-old fertile woman. I am a writer, a recruiter, an amateur astrologer. I’m a die-hard fan of 80’s Euro boy bands and yes, I was on hold with Ticketmaster at 9:57 last Friday (an hour pre-surgery) waiting to get my 7th row Duran Duran tickets – John I’ll blow you a kiss from lower reserved stage right! I am empowered by Aries and its narcissistic love of self. A time when self-pity would be such an easy mask to wear, I choose to haul out my spring wardrobe, smile along with the spring-time warblers, and love the fact that I’m alive and the possibilities for my life are limitless.
