When I was pregnant with my first, my acid reflux was really bad. I tried everything, including altering my diet (chocolate and pizza included!). Ultimately, I went to my doctor and he prescribed a medication called Zegerid. It helped a lot. The last time I was on their website they also offer an online coupon too. I think that you can get more information here: http://www.zegerid.com Good Luck!

It seems the most sure fire way to avoid it, is to avoid the foods that cause it, but I don't know that I can spend 6 mos. without chocolate and pizza. I thought I just had to give up alcohol! It is getting a little better and I hold out hope that it will maybe even go away.

Thanks for commenting Christi. The Tums seemed too weak so I'm now on Pepcid AC and trying like heck to avoid all those favorite foods which trigger me like pizza. Wah!

The pillows may be a good idea, at least on the bad nights!

Oh the wonderful reflux...
Two major problems with my pregnancy. Acid reflux and a relentless craving for burritos! :-)
The first suggestion I would make is to switch to Tums. While they are reminiscent of licking a chalk board they are actually better for you. My gyno suggested them even when I wasn't having reflux for the added calcium. Also try eating smaller (but frequent) amounts. I found it necessary to add a few more pillows to my bed and slept reclined rather than flat.
Best of luck to you - Hope you find relief soon :-)

Thanks Penny! I may have to look into that. I see no issue with starting my day with a biscuit!

Many congratulations. The only tip I was given (and we are going back thirty+ years) was to eat a plain biscuit like a digestive before you got up in the morning. It was supposed to settle your stomach. I followed this advice because I like those biscuits. Not sure if it helped.
