Countdown to Fabulosity
Today is my 38th birthday. A number of women would be unwilling to admit this. I don’t mind being 38. Really. What I do mind is looking and feeling 38. That sucks.
What I find more disconcerting that creaky hips and knees; a few gray hairs - some in very odd places; and skin that suddenly requires an expensive regimen just to maintain is running out of time. Time to be fabulous, that is.
My BFF of more than 20 years - most likely because we’ve spent most of those years with several states between us - and I have a pact to be Fabulous Before 40. Lately I’d been feeling that my goal is in jeopardy. Fortunately, nothing inspires a girl that is down in the doldrums like an inspirational speech from her BFF.
So today it was her turn to be the inspirer. The one who tells me that I’m being ridiculous when I doubt my abilities or goals. The one who reminds me that we are already frickin’ fabulous. The goal is to be at maximum fabulosity before we are 40.
Okay, I’m good with that.
We move on to funny stories about our past adventures, kids obsessed with Sponge Bob Squarepants and Hairspray, and visits to the dog groomer’s gone wrong. And I am safely back on my countdown to fabulosity.
