The Gift of “Thank You”

the-gift-of-thank-you

So, I’m no Emily Post and have no idea which fork is meant to be used with which course. I do however have a severe obsession with being polite. Rudeness is something that really grates on my nerves. Combine this with my lust for all things paper, and perhaps you’ll understand why I love thank you cards so much. I have stash of them with all sorts of designs and colours.

Although I tend to be a tad belated in sending thank you cards for gifts that I receive from friends and family (they know I can be a little tardy), I am always fairly prompt in sending business thank you cards. If you, like me, are a business owner you’ll know quite well how important word of mouth is. It’s vital to any business. My web design studio has flourished based on word of mouth alone and I appreciate anyone who refers me to a potential client. The fact that a person is willing to recommend you speaks volumes for you and your work, but also for the faith they have in you that you won’t let them down. So, any time someone refers me and my studio to a client, I send them a thank you card. It doesn’t need to be anything over the top, but a simple “Thank you” will go a long way. They’ll not only feel that they made the right choice recommending you in the first place, but you’ll be sure they’ll feel appreciated by your gesture and recommend you again. Everyone’s happy:)

If you don’t already, have a small stash of thank you cards at hand (we all know how busy life can get and you want to send those thank you cards out as promptly as you can). You can pick up packs at any stationery store, or to be a little more creative - make your own. As much as I would love to create my own, I just don’t have the time, and if you find yourself in the same boat, then check out Etsy.com for a wide range of beautifully created cards. Below are a few of my personal faves. (If you haven’t heard about Etsy.com before, you may want to check out our article, The Handmade Revolution, by Tiffany Hixon on it. I’ve been hooked on this site for ages!)
