From the Editor: Welcome to Earth & Sky (Mar/Apr 2008)
The Native American people believe that the Earth is their Mother and the Sky is their Father. They have a tremendous respect and love for their land, which is their Mother and look to the sky…gazing upon the stars and the planets…and therefore have respect as well for Father Sky. Around us in every moment, even when we are trapped in a windowless cubicle, are always these elements of nature. And so I welcome you to the second issue of 2008: Earth & Sky.
As you wander through the virtual pages of All Things Girl and our March/April issue, I hope you are able to pause and savor the lovely pieces that make-up this wonderful ezine. First, our classics and representative of our theme: Writings & Arts. In Writings…. you will find pieces that make you want to close your eyes and feel the wind upon your skin…..and satisfy the longings of open roads and beautiful vistas. I know you’re recognize some faces….and will be thrilled at the discovery of some new talent as well. And what can I say about Arts? Art is again a masterpiece of visuals….as some amazing photographers and artists share with us the many horizons they are seeing as the earth meets the sky….as well as other products of beauty in nature.
As always, Everything Girl makes me want to jump up and down in excitement of the sheer talent. There are interviews with our cover girl, Rachel Lawrence and our Hottie of the Month, Willie Herath. Our resident columnists have more than outdone themselves….and I have to tell you that how blessed I feel to know these amazing women. We are also fortunate to hear some wise words from a couple of guest columnists. Be sure an grab a fresh cup of coffee when you sit down to read Everything Girl!
And let’s not forget Reviews. You’ll find several music reviews as well as a couple of book reviews….just in case you are itching to spend those gift cards from Christmas.
I also want to take this opportunity to welcome two new staff members. Penny Luker has joined us as Assistant Writings Editor and Melissa Bartell has agreed to hop on board as our Senior Editor. As always, keep an eye on The Blog. You never know what you might find as the editors and columnists share what’s on their minds…..
We’re still taking submissions for “Earth & Sky” by the way, but you need to be quick. We’ll have a mid-issue update April 1st and will be adding a few items here and there….including some fresh reviews, an interview with authors Katie Crouch and Joshlyn Jackson …and much more! If you are inspired to share your talents, submissions are open for future editions of All Things Girl – and we can’t wait to see what you’ve got!
In the Northern Hemisphere, the sun is hanging around in the sky a little bit longer…and the earth is waking from winter’s grip and beginning to embrace Spring. I hope you are able to find your blessings in both Earth and Sky…..
