Chick flicks revisited…
So the other evening I was scratching around my less-than-impressive DVD collection when I spotted Bridget Jones’ Diary. I hadn’t watched it in ages and so decided to slip it into the player, before launching myself under my duvet (it’s winter where I live) - settling in for a chick flick night. And what a great idea that was!
Yeah yeah, I know - the movie is anything but new. But I’d forgotten how good it is! The movie has too many funny moments to mention, but I was in stitches as Bridget bumbled through public speaking, donned those big nasty knickers and drank wine while dancing in her pajamas. (Hmmmm… yes, I think we’ve all had a few of those moments. Or is that just me?
A double dose of gorgeous in the form of Hugh Grant and Colin Firth didn’t hurt either ;). And of course, those wacky parents are something else. Fun soundtrack too!
(Pity about the sequel though. Don’t know about you, but I thought it was really rubbish.)
Anyway, watching Bridget Jones’ Diary has put me in the mood for more chick flicks. These cold winter nights Cape Town has been having makes for perfect DVD evenings, so I’m looking forward to more of that! Love Actually is next on my list - one of my all-time favourite movies!
On that note, what are some of your favourite chick flicks?

Oh yes! I watch Love Actually every Christmastime. Now that you’re on the Hugh Grant kick one of my all-time favorites is Four Weddings and a Funeral. It holds up surprisingly well!

Oh yes, Nivedita - I loved the SATC movie too! As for The Notebook - I have a love/hate relationship with that movie. It’s a really great flick, but the ending leaves me chunking crocodile tears every time! So sad but so good!

I haven’t seen ‘While you were sleeping’ - so that’s definitely going on my list.
Oh, and what about ‘The Wedding Date’? That’s also one of my favourites!
